The Michigan Beekeepers? Association (MBA) will hold their 150th Annual Fall Meeting on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24, at the Great Wolf Lodge Resort, located at 3575 N US Highway 31 S, Traverse City, MI 49684. In addition to break out classroom sessions on a number of topics of interest to all beekeepers, they will be hosting guest speaker and author Tammy Horn, State Apiarist of Kentucky.
In 2005, Tammy published Bees in America: How the Honey Bee Shaped A Nation. In 2006, she was named NEH Chair of Appalachian Studies at Berea College, where her research resulted in a pilot project focusing on the relationship between coal mine reclamation sites and honey bees. In 2011, Tammy also wrote Beeconomy: What Women and Bees Can Teach Us about Local Trade and the Global Market, in addition to several papers and magazine articles.
On Saturday afternoon, an election will be held for the positions of President, Secretary and odd numbered District Representatives.
