This field bee landed on the thumb of Western Australian beekeeper Kay Cotterell as she was working her hives. The red finger nail polish, shady background and golden bee provided wonderful contrast in the macro shot Kay took. The shot also won her the Western Australian Apiarist Society (WAAS) silver medal for best photograph 2017. The bee is engorged with prized Jarrah honey unique to the south west of Western Australia.
