Registration is now open for our 2027 ABF Conference and Tradeshow, held January 12-16, 2027 at Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston, Texas. Pre-registration will close on December 31, 2026, but we do allow walk-ins. Full conference registration includes a Tuesday night Reception including snacks and a cash bar and Wednesday night “Dinner and Ice-cream Social.”
Our two Keynote Speakers will be Izzy Hill, Director of Regulatory Affairs with Project Apis m., and Dr. Jamie Ellis, Professor of Entomology in the Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia. We also have a special guest speaker, Damian Mason of The Business of Agriculture.
Izzy Hill began her career at the EPA in 2008. During her first week on the job, commercial beekeepers visited the agency to share concerns about widespread colony losses and the mounting stressors facing their bees. Wanting to better understand these challenges firsthand, Izzy enrolled in a local beekeeping course, a pivotal decision that launched an 18-year career dedicated to pollinator health. Most recently, Izzy served as the USDA’s Departmental Honey Bee and Pollinator Research Coordinator, where she worked closely with researchers, policymakers, and program managers to assess and better align USDA’s efforts to address honey bee health. In her current role at PAm, Izzy focuses on building out a new consortium that will explore alternative models and frameworks to overcome regulatory hurdles affecting beekeepers, with the goal of unlocking innovation and delivering economic relief to the beekeeping industry.
Dr. Jamie Ellis is a Professor of Entomology in the Department of Entomology at the University of Georgia. He has a BS degree in Biology from the University of Georgia (USA) and a PhD in Entomology from Rhodes University in South Africa. At the University of Georgia, Jamie has responsibilities in extension, instruction, and research. Regarding his extension work, Jamie works with assorted clientele through diverse programming. As an instructor, Jamie supervises PhD and masters’ students. Currently, Jamie and his team have over 30 active research projects in the fields of honey bee husbandry, conservation, and ecology.
