University of Montana – Summer Beekeeping Courses

The following beekeeping courses are available this summer from the University of Montana Beekeeping Certificate Program. All courses are fully online.

Commercial Honey, Wax & Pollen Production (May 4-June 12, 2026)
This course teaches students how to produce and market bee products commercially.

Responsible Natural Beekeeping (May 18-June 19, 2026)
Align your colonies with the natural habits of honey bees and mimic the process of natural selection to promote healthy, happy hives.

Master Level Beekeeping (June 15-August 14, 2026)
The final step in UM’s Master Beekeeping series, this course covers advanced topics of beekeeping including anatomy, reproduction, genetics, nutrition, and a research project.

Apprentice Level Beekeeping (July 13-August 21, 2026)
Our foundational course covers the basics of keeping honey bees including biology, care throughout the year, and how to recognize and treat ailments and pests.
