OKLAHOMA YOUTH AMONG 2025 INTERNATIONAL YOUNG ECO-HERO AWARD HONOREES

- October 1, 2025 - -(excerpt)

The state’s youngest 4-H State Ambassador wins global recognition.

San Francisco – Today, Action for Nature announced that Lucile Morehouse, a 14-year-old from Boswell, Oklahoma, is one of 15 young environmental activists from across the globe to receive recognition in the 2025 International Young Eco-Hero Awards. Lucile received an honorable mention for the award, which honors eco-conscious youth ages 8 to 16 who are taking crucial steps to solve tough environmental problems.

Lucile, the youngest 4-H Oklahoma State Ambassador, received recognition for Lucile’s Pollinator Project. After the devastation of a tornado that destroyed her family’s beehives when she was 6, Lucile launched her campaign to raise donations, purchase, and package pollinator seed packets for free distribution. Lucile has distributed 2,000 seed packets to 34 U.S. states, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and previously was a finalist for the 2024 Global Youth Award in London, leading to her appointment as a Global Youth Ambassador.

Lucile was selected by a panel of independent judges, including experts in environmental science, biology, and education. For the past 22 years, Action For Nature has recognized 360 Eco-Heroes from 40 countries and 39 U.S. states.

“Even from a small town like Boswell,” Lucile said. “One seed at a time, one person at a time, and one pollinator at a time, can achieve a global impact.”
