SUMMARY:The Back Yard Beekeepers Virtual Beekeeping Course
DESCRIPTION:New this year\, the four-session course will be offered virtual
 ly via Zoom. \n\nDate: Mondays\, January 4\, 11\, 18\, 25\, 2021\nTime:
 7-9 p.m.\nCost: $50 for the class &amp\; a 1-year membership with BYBA\nL
 ocation: Zoom\nContact: Leslie Huston at (203) 417-2023 or ljhuston3@cha
rter.net\n\nNote: In the event we postpone a session (power and/or intern
et outages due to severe weather) Monday\, February 1 will be a “make-up
date”.\n\nKeeping a colony or two of honey bees in your backyard can su
pply you with plenty of honey for family and friends\, as well as increase
your garden’s productivity\, by ensuring adequate pollination. Perhaps
just as important\, though – as any beekeeper will tell you – is that
spending time with these gentle creatures can be a truly gratifying experi
ence: it’s a fascinating\, hands-on hobby that engages both the mind and
the body. And there is no better way to introduce your children to nature
’s wonders than the gentle honey bee!\n\nThe classes will include instr
uction on how to assemble the hive\, install the bees\, inspect the colony
\, and much more. A brief historical background and some basic biology and
hive sociology will be covered\, followed by an introduction to the parts
of the hive\, tools and materials commonly encountered. There will be bot
h lectures and demonstrations\, and there will be plenty of opportunities
to ask questions. Join us and begin to experience the deep satisfaction o
f working with one of nature’s most amazing creatures!\n\nFor more infor
 mation\, please contact Leslie Huston\, ljhuston3@charter.net.\n\nRegiste
r via the website www.backyardbeekeepers.com\n\nThe Back Yard Beekeepers A

e BYBA is to provide the membership with interesting and practical inform
ation about honey bees and the “how-to’s” of beekeeping. The BYBA is
