DESCRIPTION:The Back Yard Beekeepers Association Announces the Fourth Year 
 of the Jeff Shwartz “Be Educated in Entomology Scholarship Fund" Calling
  for Applicants Who Wish to Broaden Their Education and Better the Planet 
 Deadline August 15\, 2025\n\nWESTON\, CT — The Back Yard Beekeepers Asso
 ciation (BYBA) announced the fourth year of the Jeff Shwartz "Be Educated 
 in Entomology Scholarship Fund"\, a scholarship fund for an educational ex
 perience. The Scholarship is honoring the legacy of Jeff Shwartz\, a well-
 known beekeeper\, mentor\, local volunteer and member of the Weston-based 
 club\, the Back Yard Beekeepers Association. He understood and loved bees 
 and in turn\, they loved him. He devoted the last part of his life to educ
 ating adults and kids alike about honey bees as well as other insects. Mem
 bers of the community looked forward to Jeff holding the well-loved bee de
 monstrations at schools\, fairs\, and farms. He encouraged children to app
 reciate bees rather than to fear them. He loved anything that was living a
 nd believed all living things could use help.\n\nThe popular scholarship f
 und is now in its fourth year. The funds have been used by middle school\,
  high school and college students.  Some used the funds to secure transpo
 rtation to an animal rescue while others have used the funds towards colle
 ge tuition. In 2024 Cormac Elliott was the recipient and said "I cannot th
 ank the BYBA enough for choosing me as the recipient as it is a major cont
 ribution to my endeavors at Fairfield University for mechanical engineerin
 g. This scholarship is great because it allowed me to reflect and also thi
 nk about the environment\, helping the society\, and especially bees".\n\n
 “I am so happy to see that Jeff’s memory lives and that his scholarshi
 p is helping people do many different things” said Becky Newman from the
  Back Yard Beekeepers Association.\n\nDetails: The Jeff Shwartz scholarsh
 ip\, currently up to $500\, is now awarded annually. Applications should 
 be received via email by August 15\, 2025. The funds can be used for item
 s such as tuition/classes\, books\, registration\, class materials\, resea
 rch projects\, and transportation. Candidates should have an interest in 
 their fellow earthlings and the natural world. An ideal candidate will be 
 looking to broaden their education and better the planet for all living th
 ings. There is no age limit for this scholarship.\nTo Apply:  Submit a 50
 0-word essay describing the educational experience you plan to engage in\,
  how this experience will help your fellow earthlings\, and how the schola
 rship will accomplish the goals above. Please include with your essay: yo

 uested. Add in the details of your educational experience and\, if availab
 le\, a website.\n\nApplications will be reviewed by the BYBA Charitable Gi

 ’s largest regional clubs for beekeeping hobbyists with over 400 members
