 org) 6th Annual Natural Beekeeping Symposium will be held on Saturday\, Fe
 bruary 6\, 2016\, from 10 am to 4 pm at Temple University Main Campus- Git
 tis Student Center\, Philadelphia.\n\nThe Symposium opens with special gue
 st Karen Roccasecca\, Pennsylvania?s State Apiarist\, presenting The State
  of the Bees 2015.\n\nThe keynote speaker is Mike Palmer\, renowned Vermon
 t beekeeper\, who will share his method for Building a Sustainable Apiary.
  In addition to his commercial beekeeping business - - French Hill Apiarie
 s in St. Albans\, Vermont - -Mike is widely consulted for his sage advice 
 both nationally and internationally on his approach for raising and overwi

 nNew this year are four Breakout Sessions in the afternoon. Attendees will
  have time to participate in two of the following:\nQueen Rearing- This pa
 nel discussion about local queen raising programs and how queen developmen
 t supports the sustainable apiary will feature keynote speaker Mike Palmer
 . He will be joined by Mark Gingrich of Gingrich Apiaries\, Scott Famous o
 f the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association\, and Guild member Jeff Eck
 el of Instar Apiaries.\n\nBees and Trees- Bringing It All Together This pa
 nel will discuss how horticulturists and beekeepers can work together to i
 ncrease the tree canopy and boost forage for the bees. Hosted by Guild mem
 ber Kirk Wattles the panel will feature:\n• Erica Smith from Tree Philly
  (Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation)\n• Barley Van Clief a
 nd Mindy Maslin from Tree Tenders (Pennsylvania Horticultural Society proj
 ect)\n• Robyn Mello from Philadelphia Orchards Project and\n• Linde La
 uff from Tree Northeast\n\nTeaching Children about Bees This workshop pres
 ents strategies and techniques for teaching elementary and secondary stude
 nts about bees and beekeeping. Karen Cherubini\, Guild board member and Sc
 ience Dept. faculty member at Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia ho
 sts.\n\n&gt\;&gt\;&gt\;MORE\nThe Amazing Products of the Honeybee Hive Thi
 s delicious and fun hands-on workshop will highlight the main products of 
 the honeybee hive: honey\, beeswax\, propolis\, pollen\, royal jelly and b
 ee venom including historical and medicinal uses\, recipes and more. Recen
 tly relocated to Philadelphia\, Stephanie co-founded the Boston Area Beeke
 epers Association and is the owner of Benevolent Bee.\n\nEveryone is welco
