DESCRIPTION:Queen Rearing Class\n\nJune 9\, Saturday\, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.
   Rain date: June 16.  Registration at 8:30am.\n\nLincoln Land Community
  College\, 5250 Shepherd Rd.\, Springfield\, IL 62703\n\nThis is a one-day
  queen-rearing workshop designed to provide information and hands on instr
 uction for rearing quality queens.\, Grafting\, and non-grafting methods o
 f queen rearing will be covered as well as the use of Cloake Boards and St
 arter Hives for raising queen cells. Additional topics include the biology
  of queen rearing\, handling queen cells\, establishing mating nuclei\, se
 lecting breeder queens and “breeds” of varroa and disease resistant qu
 eens.\n\nEach participant will take home a grafting tool\, cell bar\, quee
 n cups\, class handouts\, and a copy of “Queen Rearing Essentials” 2nd
  edition by Larry Connor. Participants should have a minimum of two years 
 of beekeeping experience and should be conversant with queen rearing conce
 pts and terms such as found in Dr. Connor’s book.\n\nInstructors are Stu
  Jacobson and Fred Gerberding.\n\nCost: $59 plus $25 for Connor’s book a
