DESCRIPTION:The Back Yard Beekeepers Association (BYBA) in Connecticut is p
 roud to present speaker Dr. Robyn Underwood. During this presentation Dr.
  Underwood will speak about spotted lanternflies in the US and the story o
 f her involvement in studying their interactions with honey bees. She will
  present data about the medicinal properties of the honey that is made fro
 m SLF honeydew. We will be able to sample and purchase\, if desired\, som
 e honey made from spotted lanternfly honeydew!\n\nOur meeting is in person
  and our speaker will be joining us IN-PERSON. Please join us at 7 PM to 
 allow time to socialize and chat with other members of the club.  Our spe
 aker presentation will begin at 7:30 PM. The location is Norfield Congreg
 ational Church located at 64 Norfield Rd in Weston\, CT. Even though the

  Robyn Underwood is the Apiculture Extension Educator for PA and is based 
 in the Lehigh County Extension Office. She has been learning about bees si
 nce her days as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware more than 2
 5 years ago. For her PhD\, she studied the use of formic acid for controll
 ing varroa mites in colonies that were kept indoors for the winter in Mani
 toba\, Canada. Since returning to PA in 2005\, she has kept bees in variou
 s parts of the state and has been conducting research on the impacts of a 
 beekeeper’s management system on honey bee colony health\, differences b
 etween queen lines\, impacts of various feeds on overwintering survival\, 
 the effects of humidity on formic acid fumigation\, and more. Robyn is pas
 sionate about beekeeping and considers herself to be a lifelong learner\, 
 constantly seeking knowledge about the colony’s inner workings.\n\nThis 
 is our annual meeting as well as a speaker meeting. All officers will be e
 lected at the Annual Meeting of membership. The nominating committee will
  present a slate of Officers and Board Members to the General Membership t
 o vote on. In the event candidates for an office present themselves at the
  meeting\, the nominee receiving the most votes will be elected to that of
 fice.\n\nThere is not an option for participants to join virtually. Howeve
