The SW of Western Australia has the advantage of amazing views of the Milky Way star clusters above remote apiaries, not something you see in the Northern Hemisphere. This photo is of beekeeper Kay Cotterell admiring the amazing Milky Way above a remote Banksia forest apiary site. The photograph, aptly named Cosmic swarm, won apiarist Gary Templeman (OZiBEES) the Western Australian Apiarist Society’s best photograph in 2017.
